Will completed his 4th day of radiation…it was super quick..then we met with the radiologist (Dr Williams). All seems well and going as expected..no side effects so far (thank goodness). We returned to CHOC this afternoon to have the dressing changed on his PICC line, he was also scheculed to have blood drawn. We were surprised to see Dr. Shen and the appointment took 2 hours. When they went to draw blood the line did not draw..we had to go get the line cleared (a clot blocked it….good news his blood is clotting bad news more time to get things done (our new motto) and finally arrived home a short time ago. Seems that our crash course in cancer treatment keeps crashing
. Overall okay..however exhausting.
In addition, we wanted to let everyone know that we have received authorization from CCS to cover the expenses in regards to Wills Cancer treatment at CHOC and with the Dr. through CHOC (Yay) (The coastline article was complete before approval, again please do not be misled they did not know). This does not cover perscriptions or other medical costs (ie: he needs his tonsils out etc) or future treatment with alternative or clinical studies. We have applied for medi-cal, but that decision is still pending. Why are we telling you all this…well we do not want people to be misled, we want it clear what your donations will be used for. At this time we are going to use these to provide care for William (ie pay for perscriptions and incidentals) and cover expenses that allow us to spend some time as a family (as we are not working 6 days at the Penguin for the forseeable future). We truly appreciate the support…emotionally and financially. Love to all. Sabrina
Yeah! Good news about coverage! I am sure I speak for all that donations are given regardless of insurance coverage. There is so much not covered even with the best of policies. Especially for self-employed, owner-operators. Your costs to run the business keep going when you’re not there and we all want you to be together through William’s recovery. Don’t worry, Be happy! Lets all rejoice and pray that more good news will keep coming!
Love to your family!
Bri, check into CHDP as well, they covered almost all of Chances medical expenses when he was born Premature with RDS.
